The exports of garments and textiles from Vietnam have reached US$ 4.2 billion during the first quarter of the current year, registering a year-on-year rise of 16 percent, according to the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS).

February imports were about 3.6 percent lower than $8.652 billion worth of textiles and clothing imported in January 2013.
China was by far the largest exporter of textiles and apparels to the US during the month and accounted for $3.32 billion, i.e. nearly 40 percent of all US imports.

Kuraray will break ground on a greenfield Kuraray Poval (PVOH) plant located in La Porte, Texas. This new plant will add to Kuraray’s vast portfolio of manufacturing in the United States, including EVAL (ethylene vinyl acetate) and SEPTON (co-block thermo-elastomers). Kuraray’s Poval plant will have a production capacity of over 40,000 tons in its first phase.
