Friday, a report by Statistics Finland said new orders in the manufacturing sector dropped 31.1% year-on-year in July, slower than a 33.9% fall in the preceding month. New orders have been declining in double digits for the past ten months now. Industry-wise, metals showed the biggest drop in new orders, by 39.6%. This was followed by a 24.1% fall in the textile industry.
Meanwhile, in the first seven months of the year, new orders slipped 36.9% compared to the same period last year.
